Support for students

As well as learning support facilities and course specialist facilities, we run a number of excellent support services to help our students.

Accommodation service
Providing students with secure, suitable accommodation whilst studying.

Advice team
The advisers offer students and those interested in studying with TVU, a free and confidential professional advice service, covering practical issues such as:

• sources of funding
• money management
• international student issues, including immigration advice
• state benefits
• housing rights

Careers and Employment Service
We provide careers advice and an employment service for all TVU students.

Chaplaincy team
Our services are available to all students from any religious background. We act as a focus for worship, fellowship and exploration of religious issues. We also listen in confidence to students.

Counselling service
Counselling provides you with the opportunity to talk to someone about issues in your life which concern you. We offer individual, confidential, short-term counselling, and longer term group counselling.

Disability team
We offer a confidential service to all students who have a disability. We can help you:

• disclose special need/disability to tutors
• set up special needs support
• apply for Disabled Students Allowance
• arrange an assessment for dyslexia with an Educational Psychologist

Funding and Information Team
We administer the following funding:

• student loans
• Access to Learning Fund
• TVU Bursary
• part-time funding

Health service
Once registered with the Health Centre on the campus you'll be studying at, we can offer health treatment and advice. This covers a wide range of health issues, including:

• ill health
• accidents
• sport injuries
• emergency contraception / family planning
• stress
• healthy eating

International team
We offer advice and support to international students on:

• the courses we run
• the application process
• student life in the UK

Library Services
We provide access to the services, facilities and information resources you need to complete your studies.
